From June 14-21, Mi Casa Nursing Center in Mesa, Arizona, celebrated National Nursing Assistant Week.
“We wanted to recognize the backbone of our facility, the CNAs,” said Lora Pedrosa, director of nursing.
To do so, nursing leadership hosted a barbecue for the CNAs, provided them with T-shirts, decorated the nurses’ station and gave out handmade cards with candy and a special caregiver prayer. The cards used the names of candies to make acronyms reflecting the importance of CNAs.
In addition, facility managers washed the CNAs’ cars in the parking lot.
“I really enjoy being a CNA, and it was great to be recognized and appreciated,” said Marie Torgerson.
“This was the least we could do for our CNAs for all they do for our residents,” said Pedrosa.
